This was thought up as a gift, but has ended up as a viable product being built in collaboration with Swapnil Devesh
One fine day, I had to come up with a gift idea. And I happened to be in a rabbit hole of exploring lighting 3D prints testing the visual effects of print layers.
And so there I was, bored and stuck on the idea and was thinking of what would make a logical pretty-looking gift.
Thinking of the LED Board
Considering my reasons for the gift (no, I’m not explaining it here), I decided that I wanted it to -
- Be an object that would sit in a home
- Be simple and non-obtrusive
- Be analog-feeling while augmenting the home like a smart accessory
I did a basic search and wow, people on the internet really are amazing y’know
I knew exactly what I needed to make - a home decor object that could sit on table or a wall and blend into the home while showing something on a frosted-style LED Matrix display.
And so solving the form factor became way easier with the existing projects constraining me to specific types of LED hardware and I could quickly move to prototyping
